Is AI actually citing you?

Not a score. Not a guess dressed up as data. Real citations where we can check them, honest estimates where we can't.

How we measure this, in the open

Why is Perplexity the only one marked "live"?

Perplexity is the only major AI answer engine with a public API. It's the only one we can query directly, every day, and verify for real whether your domain shows up in the sources it cites. Real data, not a guess. That's why it's the anchor of this tracker, even if it's not the platform most people use daily.

Why is Google AI Overviews "estimated", and how?

Google doesn't publish an API for AI Overview citations. Google's own documentation confirms AI Overviews are drawn from pages with well-labeled images and structured data. So instead of guessing a citation count we can't measure, we estimate your visibility from how complete your structured data and alt text coverage actually are: the same signals Google says it relies on.

Why is ChatGPT Search "estimated", and how?

ChatGPT Search discovers content through Bing's index, and OpenAI confirms it relies on text-based metadata for citation. We estimate your visibility here the same way: from your structured data and alt text coverage, since that's what its crawler actually reads. Not a literal citation count, a readiness signal.

Will this ever become "live" for Google and ChatGPT?

If they ever expose a citation API, yes, immediately. Until then, we won't fake it. That's the whole point of building this as SeenLayer instead of another AI-hype dashboard.
